Christopher Keleher

The Keleher Appellate Law Group handles all phases of appellate litigation in federal and state courts across the country.

Christopher Keleher clerked for the Hon. William J. Bauer of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.  This unique opportunity provided Mr. Keleher with an invaluable understanding of the inner workings of an appellate court.  He saw what persuades judges and what does not, and utilizes this knowledge every time he writes an appellate brief.

Mr. Keleher has written briefs and presented arguments to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth, Sixth, Seventh, Eighth, and Tenth Circuits and the Appellate Courts of Illinois. He has also drafted writs of certiorari to the Supreme Court of the United States.  His experience includes both criminal and civil appeals.  To see examples of briefs Mr. Keleher has authored, please click here.

Mr. Keleher’s insight on legal issues has been cited by numerous media outlets, including the Associated Press, the New York Times, and the Chicago Tribune.  He was interviewed about anonymous juries on ABC News.  Mr. Keleher also presents continuing legal education seminars on legal writing and was awarded first place in the 2012 Indiana State Bar Association Harrison Legal Writing Awards for his article “Class Inaction: The U.S. Supreme Court Reins in Class Actions.”

Mr. Keleher graduated from DePaul University School of Law, summa cum laude, and was a member of the Order of the Coif and the Editor of Notes and Comments for the DePaul Law Review.  He is admitted to practice in Illinois, the U.S. Supreme Court, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth, Sixth, Seventh, and Eighth Circuits, and is a member of the Appellate Lawyers Association, Chicago Bar Association, and Illinois Bar Association.  He also passed the 2000 Illinois Certified Public Accountant Examination on the first sitting.

The Keleher Appellate Law Group utilizes Mr. Keleher’s federal appellate clerkship and significant appellate experience to write briefs that are polished and persuasive.  As a former client describes her experience, “Chris captures all the details of a brief with enormous accuracy and makes compelling arguments such that the appellate court agreed and reversed on every single issue.”
